Gaming News Overwatch 2: Loot boxes abandoned by Activision-Blizzard in favor of another system

Things around Overwatch 2 are speeding up! Blizzard’s multiplayer FPS is fast approaching as the studio shares more elements with its community. Today we learn that the software will not include loot boxes to ultimately use a different system well known to players.

Overwatch 2 brings a lot of news!

surveillance 2 is very present in video game news this month of June. Blizzard has sped things up for its new title and intends to share all of the new features with the studio’s FPS fanbase. After an initial week-long beta last April, the game is scheduled to return to the testing phase by the end of the month. Meanwhile, Overwatch 2 made a brief appearance during Summer Game Fest, before revealing themselves in detail during a special livestream.

The studio therefore used this evening to share an approximately forty-minute video before revealing the roadmap of its title, which will be released next October. In addition to these revelations, today we also learn that Overwatch 2 will not feature loot boxes. Instead, Activision Blizzard should succumb to the Battle Pass trend.

The Battle Pass for Overwatch 2!

This information comes from Madeline Demas, Associate Manager of International Marketing for Overwatch 2, who noted the news in a post Playstation blog. Loot boxes will be replaced with a new license Battle Pass system.

With the new Battle Pass system, you can unlock cosmetic items and complete weekly challenges to earn unique rewards. Instead of gambling with loot boxes, you can invest in new content and progress each season.

So we don’t know exactly how this Battle Pass will work. Will he have different “paths” of progression to unlock the content of his choice, or will it be possible to unlock the entire Battle Pass? For now, we’ll have to wait for a few more details from Activision-Blizzard on this new system. And to wait, nothing better than registering for the beta that will begin next 28.6. After this new test phase Overwatch 2 is slated for release on October 4th on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series and Xbox One.
